“To me, being a part of the Vietnamese Students Association is more than just being a member of a club. As someone who grew up without Vietnamese representation, I wanted to finally meet people who shared the same heritage as me and be able to showcase my culture as an integral part of who I am. When I decided to join VSA, I did it not because of an obligation to add yet another extracurricular to my portfolio, but because of the amazing people I was going to meet and the lasting friendships that I was going to make. From the first introduction at Club Week to the kick-off event, UWO VSA’s amazing execs and members took me in and made me feel as though I was part of a second family. More than anything, the vision that everyone shares for the future of VSA and their dedication and commitment to the team make VSA stand out from all the other clubs I’ve joined here at Western. If I could go back in time, I would tell my 1st-year self to join VSA, make new friends, fatten up on homemade banh mi and goi cuon, dance at Ignite, and just make the most out of the whole experience because it’ll definitely be worth it!”
